Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid Lemon Zester, WhiteCustomer Review: Don't just stop at lemons! Summary: 5 Stars
Try limes and oranges too! Nice thick handle helped me thru 5 Lemon/lime/orange cakes I made for a charity auction. Stayed sharp and nice long strands and short confetti styles were achieved making the cakes beautiful inside and out.
Description of KitchenAid Lemon Zester, WhiteConsider this a peeler that is dedicated to distinguish the multilayerd properties inherent in the peels of citrus fruits. For most recipes, when the zest is required, a standard peeler simply won't work. The Kirchen Aid Lemon Zester, however, has been engineered and design to swiftly perform this delicate function - with ease. Lemon Zest is the yellow part of the peel on the outside of a lemon. It has an intense lemon/citrus flavor with very little bitterness. The bitterness is primarily found in the white part of the lemon. When removing the skin from lemons or other citrus fruits, be sure to take only the thin outer zest or colored portion. A lemon zester allows one to remove the zest (and only the zest) in long strips. A zester has tiny cutting holes that create threadlike strips of peel. If you do not have a zester, use a vegetable peeler or a small, sharp knife. Put a little zest in your life with this nifty little gadget. With its sharp holes for zesting and built-in channel knife for fashioning pretty garnishes, it's the ultimate tool for making the best use of your citrus. The zester shaves off tiny slivers of citrus skin without getting at the bitter pith, adding the perfect tang to desserts, lemonade, baked goods, and brightly flavored sauces and salad dressings. The channel knife lets you create narrow spirals of citrus peel for garnishes or make decorative scoring marks along the outside of a cucumber or lemon. The hanging loop lets you keep this dual-purpose tool within arm's reach. --Mary Park
