Customer Review: Disappointing for KitchenAid

We purchased an earlier version of this model a few years ago. Ours gets infrequent use, maybe 1-2 times per month, maybe just a little more around Christmas.
It has been a disappointment.
The component that sticks out of the base and drives the blade quickly began to make a loose connection with the blade. Other than that it worked ok for about 3-4 years. Then all of a sudden it stopped working.
This was at the time a fairly mid-high end unit, one which I would have expected many years of dependable use particularly at a low usage rate.
I will avoid Kitchen Aid in the future for small appliances, and have begun to wonder about larger appliances, of which we own some.

Whirl up a fruit and yogurt smoothie to get your morning off to a healthy and energetic start. Or wind down after work with an icy cold margarita. But that's not all: chop ice, grind coffee beans, puree soup and much, much more.This is the blender of the future. It performs all the traditional blending tasks (crushing ice for margaritas, thinning ice cream) plus it can be used like a food processor (mincing garlic, pur?eing peppers). The wide jar is rounder and squatter than old-style blenders, which makes it easier to reach in and scrape the sides (when the blender is off!). To reduce splatters of strawberry daiquiri, the Step Start feature starts blending slowly, then picks up to the chosen speed. This blender also comes with a booklet containing 75 recipes--my favorite is the Frosty Chocolate Raspberry Latté. --Dana Van Nest
