I've had my Accolade 400 since just after Christmas, and I've already made dozens of things with it. Perhaps the most wonderful thing about it is that it will kneads dough for you very quickly and very effectively, better than I can knead dough myself and without developing as much gluten and sparing my little arms.
The noise the Accolade makes is really not that terrible, not if you've had a cheaper bit of whirring kitchen machinery in your house before. My old hand mixer actually makes more noise. I can talk over the Accolade normally and be heard plainly in the adjoining living room, but maybe this has more to do with my loud mouth than the quietness of the mixer.
Now that I have my Accolade, I couldn't do without it and I've been able to bake a lot more. Recipies actually get done within their suggested allotted time, rather than possibly double, which is usually what it took out of my small discount hand mixer.
My advice? Wait until Amazon does a special low price on the mixer -- which seems to happen several times a year, pick the color you want, and then bite the bullet and order it. If you bake a lot and have limited arm strength, your Accolade will be your new strong right arm.
