Beware - this toaster is a lemon. Just over three months from purchase, the bagel lock / warm buttons stopped working soon followed by the lever that would not lock. So not only could we not use for bagels we could not use for any types of bread. This is going in the trash. Definitely consider another model and another manufacturer. Kitchen Aid has lost an advocate here.
