Okay, so I may not be a gourmet coffee drinker, and I admit I like my coffee a bit on the weak side of Medium, but I've also been making and drinking 10 cups a day for the last 20 years, so I know what I like and what works for me personally. I don't want something that leaks, is a hassle to clean up afterwards, or makes bitter or burnt tasting coffee. I just want a good pot of coffee.
For me, this KitchenAid fits the bill perfectly. Whether I want coffee weak or strong it makes it just like I expect it. It's hard for me to believe I have the same unit as other reviewers here because mine never leaks, it pours very easily without spills or drips (in fact it's the best pouring carafe I've owned), and it cleans up very easily. As for the complaints about where/how you have to pour water into the reservoir, well... it's not difficult and you get used to it after a few days. Yes, it might take 8 seconds to pour the carafe into it vs 6 seconds with another design, but, well... I guess I'm just really patient for those extra 2 seconds.
I was skeptical after the reviews here, but I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to buy this again now. Brews and Keeps coffee very hot, warmer automatically turns off after 2 hours, coffee never tastes burnt or re-heated. I've used both the gold-plated reusable filter and paper filters. Both work well.
The only "gotcha" is: make sure the carafe is pushed in all the way when brewing. I have woken up to an overflow mess 2 times when I didn't push it in - but that's my fault, not the coffeemaker's.
I've had this product for more than 6 months now and I am very pleased with this purchase.
