Customer Review: Not as good as the other Kitchenaid Clad pieces

I bought this steamer for the 3-quart Kitchenaid saucepan. It does not fit well and tips when there is no food in it. I believe this is due to the lip of the pan as well as the fact that the steamer has the handle of a regular saucepan and thus tips when empty. I rang Kitchenaid customer service (and I only have nice things to say about them) and they sent me a new 3-quart saucepan. The same problem exists. As it is the pan this steamer is designed to be used on, this is somewhat of a problem. Of course, while there is food in it, it steams perfectly well.

The line combines gorgeous, highly polished stainless steel with the superior heat conductivity of an aluminum core. KitchenAid 5-Ply uses 18/10 stainless steel on both the exterior and interior. Heat-resistant, silicone handles provide a cool, confident grip. The cookware is oven safe. Handwash with mild dish soap.Holding 2-1/2 quarts, this stainless steel insert is perfect for steaming vegetables or seafood for a family dinner. The steamer measures 7-1/2 inches in diameter and fits all 3-quart saucepans in KitchenAid's various cookware lines. It's made of heavy 18/10 stainless steel that is polished to a mirror finish. The finish resists scratching, denting, and warping, as well as corrosion and discoloring and will retain its luster through repeated use. Though it's dishwasher-safe, hand washing KitchenAid cookware prevents surface dulling.
